24 - Sunday 23rd July - Bath back to Bristol. Bristol Avon.

Julian arrived a bit late in Neil's Passat at 12.00. Fairly quick changeover to "family weeks". Linda (WWW) sprogs, Peter and Wendy and Alan now in attendance. Fairly uneventful trip back down the Avon to Bristol. Soon caught up with two totally rat ar*ed crews aboard the two Saltford Marina 30ft day narrowboats. They were totally helpless and we had to do everything at the locks. Between the locks they engaged in narrowboat racing, seeing who could make the most black smoke from there engines. At Saltford Lock one gave up after nearly wrecking a small sailboat race. The other passed through Saltford Lock with us and an Anglo Welsh boat (Crocus). We soon left them behind. We passed through Keynsham lock with couple aboard David Piper boat who had just been stoned from the road bridge they were half moored under (Neil was right to not fancy stopping here!) We got to Netham Lock at 16.40 and went straight through into the floating Harbour feeder canal (Neil knew it would not be tidal at the moment as it was still going off springs). Moored up at same mooring on Lloyds Building pontoons at 17.25. We were welcomed by crew of Mucky Duck (just done estuary in force 4, but with the wind) and crew of Lemehocl, who we had met coming down at Bath. That night we found the quick way to Park Street and went to Pizza Plus - Bennys.
