14 - Shardlow to Alvecote - Trent and Mersey Canal, Coventry Canal.

Thursday 2nd May 2013

We were going to have to get a move on to get to Atherstone the next morning, so NA left early at 06:05, just as well it was a cool but brilliantly clear morning. Horninglow Basin was passed at 11:20, then finally back to the narrow locks at Dallow Lock. By now we had picked up a bit of traffic, with two boats in front. Alrewas moorings passed at 16:25, then left at Fradley Junction at 17:00. We had to eat out that night, so decided to stop at The Plough at Huddlesford. Rather busy moorings here so took last one under the railway bridge. The plough did us proud a nice meal and swift pint. (18:20 to 17:20) Fazeley Junction passed at 21:35 in the dark, good bit of steering now on from MC. Glascote Bottom Lock was playing up, took ages to fill. We finally gave up just before Alvecote at 23:00.
