West Clare Railway October 2009

Recently reopened section at Moyasta, due to finance from local businessman, Jackie Whelan.

The sole surviving steam engine, Slieve Callan was restored at Jackie's expense at Alan Keef at Ross-On-Wye.

The plan is to reopen the railway from Kilkee to Kilrush.

BJG's contact was driver Richard Gair, a Welsh guy, who used to own the wooden narrowboat Hesperus.

We were called up at short notice (like a day!) as there was due to be an unexpected out of season steaming of Slieve Callan, due to a Japanese film crew arrival.
